Statoil January Award Winners

Statoil is now the exclusive Aberdeen Football Club ‘Talent Partner’ with the emphasis specifically on the future development of elite youth players through the AFC Youth Academy. The Statoil “Heroes of Tomorrow” sponsorship concept supports talented young people, not just in sport but also in culture and education to help them achieve their ambitions. The Statoil Young Talent and Talent of the Month awards are awarded to players who show an exceptionally high standard of talent during academy training sessions and matches at club and international level.

The Statoil “Heroes of Tomorrow” sponsorship concept supports talented young people, not just in sport but also in culture and education to help them achieve their ambitions. The Statoil Young Talent and Talent of the Month awards are awarded to players who show an exceptionally high standard of talent during academy training sessions and matches at club and international level. The awards for January we awarded to:

January's Award for the Academy's younger age groups was presented to Under 11 player, Callum Duncan. Callum has been consistently improving over the season resulting in him regularly playing and training with the Under 12s. January saw Callum spend most of his time with the older age group and he also impressed at the Scottish FA Under 12s National Festival. Along with scoring a number of goals, Callum is a determined young player who has a real willingness to learn and desire to practice in his own time.   Head of Youth, Neil Simpson who presented the award to Callum said 'It's fantastic to see a young player who has such a positive and determined attitude. I'm sure Callum will continue to build on his success this month and we look forward to seeing the improvements in his game during the remainder of the season'.

Last season's Statoil Talent of the Year Winner, Dean Campbell becomes the first monthly winner of 2016 for the older age groups of the Academy. January has been an exciting month for the Scotland 15s International, having played for the Academy's Under 15s, Under 16s, Under 17s and then later featuring in the club's Under 20s squad.   The Aberdeen FC Youth Academy has helped build it's reputation on continuously challenging players to fulfil their potential and Dean highlights how you can make the most of these opportunities at the club.   Head of Academy Coaching, Gavin Levey said 'Dean's had a great start to the new term and shown a real desire to push his own performances to the highest level possible. As the season's progressed he's improved various aspects of his game and we've all seen how these tests at the older age groups are being met with Dean's enthusiasm and determination. Dean and his family will be very proud of his progress.'
