“We are getting Niall McGinn scanned today and see how he is. Niall is feeling a lot better within himself but obviously we will not be taking any risks and we will see how the injury measures up medically. Fingers crossed it is improving.

“Barry Robson is still looking to be involved. We have not ruled him out yet. If we can get one back out of the two boys that would be a huge boost for us. Russell Anderson’s hand is still in plaster. We will have a look at it again next week to see if we can put on a lighter cast which would allow him to p0lay. Chris Clark is still working very hard but a bit away yet and Willo Flood is back running again and on course to be back in two or three weeks.

“Saturday is a big game because we are playing the team top of the league. Huge credit to them for the way they have started. There has been quite a big change to their squad and Terry has brought some good players in this summer. He has had a consistency in selection which always helps, I think I am right in saying he has played the same team in the league every fixture.

“If we are in and around Inverness at the end of the season I think it will mean we have done pretty well. They are a good side with a good manager. They had disappointment last season losing to Hearts in the cup semi final and missing out on Europe on the last day of the campaign but overall it is a great story what is happened up there.

“I did my pro licence alongside Terry Butcher. I worked closely with him for two years and when you work with people as closely as that you get to know them well. He was always good company.

“We are playing a very good confident Inverness team. We beat a confident Partick team last week. Although we have injuries we showed last week we can cope. We have to go out and try impose ourselves. It is a challenge but a challenge I think we are ready for.

“Calvin is like any other striker. They want to see the ball hit the back of the net and that goal will help him. When a new striker goes to a new club they want to get off the mark as quickly as possible. For various reasons it has taken a bit longer than he anticipated. We also got Josh up and running last week as well.

“It is a big week for us with three big games. It is important the players go into each game with confidence and we can get that from a win on Saturday.”

“The confidence is high after the win last week. We had a good win and we had to take the positivity of the Partick match into this one but we know the game on Saturday will be completely different. The manager said at the start of the season we had players in the dressing room who could do a job if we lost players through injury and what we said was justified last week. We were missing Russell, Barry, Willo and Niall so it does show you there is strength in depth.

“I think Saturday will be a cracking match. We know what to expect from Inverness. Terry has them so well organised. They are a well drilled side and they have got a lot of good flair players in their team and they have Billy McKay who scores a good few goals. They are scoring goals but not conceding at the other end.

“It is a big game because we go not want to go nine points behind them but it is only September and the league does not really take shape until December. We want to be at the right end of the table competing against the right sides and I believe Inverness will be one of those sides this year.

“We had a lot of young players in the team on Saturday. The older boys wanted to help them and get it right. It (the so called ‘huddle’) was just a spontaneous thing that happened. It has caused some upset. However we do not like to call it the huddle. We like to call it the ‘Aberdeen bosie’. It won’t happen all the time but sometimes the young boys need that support.

Ryan made his 100th appearance for Aberdeen last Saturday.

“I am delighted to have got to that stage especially with the injuries that I have had. Hopefully there will be many more milestones to come in future. I do look back on games, obviously just the good ones, not the bad ones! I have really enjoyed the first 100 games and hopefully there will be more enjoyable games to come. Hopefully also the injuries are behind me.

“I thought last Saturday was a great performance considering we had key players out. A lot was made of that but the boys did really well and put in a good performance. With Barry and Willo out I was playing alongside Peter and Cammy. They have both played a good few first team games so they are experienced enough to know what to do but having played more games than them in the middle of the park I did have to be disciplined. I sat in and let them get forward and create the goals. I did have to talk to them and let them know where I wanted them to be when we were pressing them. I think it worked well.

“Cammy has been doing really well in training and deserved his chance. I am very pleased to see Peter doing what he is doing now. I have come right through with him from a young age. To see him expressing himself the way he has been in the first team is great to see.”

Gregg spoke to RedMatchday “I think the start to the season was maybe not as bad as has been made out in some quarters. We have had a difficult set of fixtures and there are a lot of new players, so it will take time for the team to settle and get used to playing with each other. We played really well in spells in the Kilmarnock, Motherwell and St Johnstone games and even against Celtic with ten men we did ok. The Hearts away game was the one that was disappointing as we outplayed them in the second half but just could not get a goal, then they went and scored late on. We still have a lot of games ahead of us and there is a lot of football to be played. We are creating a lot of chances and once we start to turn these chances into goals we will be fine.

“I think you saw that last Saturday when we won convincingly down at Partick. We were without quite a few senior players because of injury, but we really got into them right from the start and those two early goals settled us and settled the game. It was a big result for us, but after people were talking us down during the break, now they’re saying we can finish second! I think the best thing for us is just to keep taking it one game at a time and see where that leads us”. Russell Anderson |

Russell spoke to RedMatchday “It was so important that we came back from the international break last weekend with a positive result at Patrick after a couple of minor setbacks since the Celtic gane at Pittodrie.

“The boys did just that with a really strong display against the Jags. They were well worth the 3-0 win and that has got things in the right direction for us again, taking us up to fourth place in the table. It is still early days, and talk of us challenging for the top two is much too premature given we have only played a handful of games, but it is nice to be in the right half of the table at the moment. All we can do is keep on playing, keep picking up points and then, when we get to the business end of things after Christmas, see where we are then.

“I think we were especially pleased that Calvin got his first goal for the club because that will be a weight off his shoulders. He has been unlucky because he got a little injury towards the end of pre-season that set him back a bit and he was playing at just a little bit below par in the first few weeks. The international break helped him really get back to full fitness and he showed at Patrick just what we can look forward to from him for the rest of the season.

“It was also good to see Andrew Considine getting back on the field again after his injury. Hopefully he can steer clear of injury now because he is an important player for us.

“Unfortunately, I’ve taken his place in the treatment room which was really frustrating. It was a bizarre injury in training – I got my hand caught in Declan’s shirt as I went in for a challenge and thought I’d just dislocated as finger. As it turned out, I actually picked up a small fracture in my hand and that meant I needed a heavy cast on it which ruled me out of last Saturday’s game.” Aberdeen v Inverness CT | Complete League Record

FIRST TIME OUT

The first time Aberdeen met Inverness in an AWAY fixture in the SPL was actually at Pittodrie on 16th October 2004. In what wasdebut season for Inverness in the Premier League, The Highlanders had to use Pittodrie for their home games for the first part of the season while their ground in Inverness was brought up to SPL requirements. With Aberdeen in the away dressing room t was all very surreal. In what was Inverness biggest ‘home’ gate of the season, the 9,530 crowd was mainly full of Aberdeen supporters with the home side taking up their seats in the Main Stand. A double from current Ross County manager Derek Adams helped Aberdeen to a 3-1 win, their third ‘away’ win five SPL outings that season.
