In Saturday's RedMatchday magazine, 84 pages packed with exclusive interviews, articles and photos from the past and present.
There is a feature interview with Adam Rooney:
“Our video analyst Greig Thomson does all my goal clips and I will watch them from time to time to look at certain things, maybe little things that can help me with my game. I think there was a stage when five or six weeks in a row, I scored from half a yard out! I don’t think all the goals would have added up to six yards!
“I don’t care how the ball goes in though. Even if they are off my shin, I don’t care. I am a goalscorer and that is what I want to do.”
There are the usual interviews with Derek McInnes and skipper Ryan Jack:
“The schedule is pretty hectic in the next few weeks but from our point of view as players, it’s great to have four of these next five games inside three weeks here at Pittodrie though in saying that, we recognise just how tough that can be for the supporters to find the time and the money to come to so many games. We really appreciate the numbers we get both home and away and hopefully over this busy period, we can really give the fans something to enjoy.”
Peter Pawlett has been back in amongst the goals and spoke to us this week:
“We have to all stick together and it is important the players who are not playing support the ones who are. We are all in this together. The players are all really good lads. Of course, it is frustrating not to be playing but everyone wants the team to do well. It is a team sport at the end of the day.”
and we also spoke to Ryan Christie about his wonder goal:
“Yes I did mean it. I heard Graeme Shinnie questioned whether I meant it on the RedTV commentary! I had a word with Graeme after the game! I did not mean it to go as perfectly as it did but it was a shot and I am very happy with it and it is the best goal I have scored. More importantly I am just pleased I have settled in so quickly and I am contributing towards the team.”
Andrew Considine spoke to us in greater detail about his new deal:
“The resources here are better than they have been in the past and I can only see things getting better and better, especially if the training ground gets the go ahead. That will be a huge boost and it’s very exciting to think it might be on the cards now.”
There are articles from our usual columnists – Richard Gordon, Chris Crighton, George Rutherford, Ian Thomson plus Kevin Stirling's in depth history section which this week features the month of February 1972.
