Five-goal Bojan Miovski was in positive mood as he and the Aberdeen squad headed for Frankfurt earlier today, looking forward to opening the Conference League group stages.
“It’s special for me because it’s the first time I’ve played in the group stages in Europe. Eintracht Frankfurt is a very big club, really strong opposition, but as a player, you want to play against these teams, in a big stadium, to test yourself against the best and to see how we compare.
“We are underdogs tomorrow but it is the type of game where we can surprise people and where we can use it to turn around the start to the season that we’ve had. We know that we have a lot of quality in the team so it needs just one thing to start us on the right way to winning games.
“You must be positive as a striker. If you miss a chance, you forget it immediately because if you are thinking about that, you are not ready when the next chance comes. You have to think about the chance to come, not the ones that have gone.”
Bojan faced even tougher opposition during the international break as North Macedonia held Italy to a 1-1 draw and the Dons’ number 9 thinks that stands him in good stead for Thursday night.
“It was unbelievable to draw against Italy, then we beat Malta, so we have the same points as Italy and Ukraine so we will fight to the end to qualify. Games like these, they help a lot with games like tomorrow night. Playing against the best in Europe, big players and doing well, it’s good for your confidence. If you can do well in those, why not in games like tomorrow?”
