LIVINGSTON 2 ABERDEEN 2 Friday 1 May 2026 SPFL Premiership Tony Macaroni Arena Referee: Calum Scott Aberdeen continued the upturn in results as they made it seven points from nine, continuing to put distance between themselves and the danger zone. Following Aberdeen’s 1-0 win over Kilmarnock last Saturday, Stephen Robinson made one change, Lyall Cameron on the bench, Dennis Geiger coming into the starting XI in his place. Nicolas Milanovic replaced Dylan Lobban among the substitutes. Livingston were 2-0 winners at St. Mirren last Saturday and also made just one change, Babacar Fati replaced by Cristian Montano. In a very scrappy opening, the first action came in the eighth minute when Toyosi Olusanya was played in behind. He advanced into the box but pulled his shot well wide of goal, the offside flag then going up anyway. Four minutes later, Gavin Molloy got an important block on Kabongolo’s goal bound header to put it behind for a corner. Mitchel Frame did well on the quarter hour. First he made a good interception deep in his own half, then he exchanged passes with Stuart Armstrong to get himself into a crossing position, the ball taking a defection that made it comfortable for Prior. The Dons were enjoying the best of the territory, and they made it count in the 24th minute when Frame gave Aberdeen the lead. Receiving the ball from Geiger on the left edge of the box, he cut inside and then curled a right footed finish across the face of the goalkeeper and in for the first goal of his senior career. Kevin Nisbet played Alexander Jensen in on the other side of the box on 27', but his first touch took the ball away from him, then Geiger swung a cross through the box that found no takers. It might have been 2-0 after 34 minutes, Olusanya working hard down the left and pulling the ball back into the path of Geiger, but from 12-yards out, his shot was well blocked by Sylla. Two minutes later, Armstrong had another great opportunity from a rapid counter-attack, Nisbet’s pass getting him one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Prior was able to save Armstrong’s low effort. The Dons were nearly made to pay for their profligacy in the 38th minute, Nouble’s curling shot from the edge of the area looking bound for the top corner until Dimitar Mitov produced a superb diving save to tip the ball over the bar. HALF-TIME: LIVINGSTON 0 ABERDEEN 1 The hosts made a triple change at the break, Tait, Pittmann and McKay thrown into the fray in place of May, Wilson and Arfield. It almost paid immediate dividends, McKay fizzing a 25 yarder at goal, Mitov doing well to tip the ball over the bar. But from the corner, Nouble had Livi on terms amid a goalmouth scramble. The corner went to the back stick and was headed back across goal into the middle where Sylla won it. His header thumped off the post, hit Nisbet and dropped for Nouble to stretch and jab the ball over the line from close range. Nisbet was inches away from restoring the lead on 55 following a sweeping move from Aberdeen. It started with Olusanya in the centre circle, on to Nisbet who spread the play to Armstrong on the right. He played into Jensen and then on to Nisbet but from a tight angle, his shot went across goal and just wide of the far post. Montano went down clutching his right knee in the 58th minute and he had to make way for Fati. Jack Milne needed treatment five minutes later and was eventually replaced by Mats Knoester. Fati was booked for a foul on Olusanya in the 70th minute and from the free-kick, the Dons were back in front. From the right flank, Armstrong fired the ball into the near post, Nisbet flicked it on and, inside the six yard box, the ball cannoned into Finlayson and deflected into his own net. Livi immediately replaced Nouble with Muirhead. Aberdeen responded by replacing Geiger and Olusanya with Topi Keskinen and Ante Palaversa in the 74th minute. The hosts weren’t finished and they scored a superb goal in the 79th minute. An Aberdeen clearance reached Muirhead to the right of the D and left footed, he curled the ball first time into the top corner, giving Mitov no chance. Finlayson was booked for a late challenge on Molloy in the 81st minute. Two minutes later, Jensen and Frame made way for Milanovic and Elvis Bwomono. Milanovic almost had an immediate impact, flashing a left foot shot across goal and wide from 25 yards after being set up by a reverse pass by Nisbet. Muirhead was the threat again on 90, a dangerous effort from the edge of the box that was well blocked by Knoester. From a deep free-kick, Finlayson glanced a header wide of goal in the 94th minute as Livi desperately sought a winner. It wouldn’t come and the Dons posted a third game unbeaten.
