Midfielder Connor Ronan has joined the Dons on a two-year deal, with the Club holding the option of a further year.

The 28-year-old arrives at Pittodrie from Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids and becomes Aberdeen's sixth addition of the summer as preparations for the new campaign continue.

A former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, Ronan came through the academy at Wolverhampton Wanderers before enjoying spells across England, Slovakia and Switzerland for the likes of Portsmouth, Blackpool and Grasshopper Club Zürich.

Most recently, he established himself as a key figure for Colorado Rapids, earning a reputation as a creative and influential midfielder capable of dictating the tempo of matches and creating opportunities for teammates.

Ronan also enjoyed a successful loan spell with St Mirren, where he briefly worked under current Dons boss Stephen Robinson, and caught the eye with several memorable goals during his time in Paisley.

Manager Stephen Robinson said: "We're delighted to bring Connor to Aberdeen.

"He is a player I know from his time in Scotland and someone whose qualities we have admired for a number of years.

“He’s a creative player who will bring valuable experience to our midfield. He has a strong work ethic, can score goals and has clearly matured during his time in MLS.

"Just as importantly, he has the character and professionalism that we want within the squad. We're looking forward to working with him and seeing the impact he can make."

Speaking after completing his move, Connor said: “It's great to be here. I'm delighted to have everything finalised and can't wait to get started.

"From the first conversations I had with the manager, it was clear what the Club is trying to build and where I fit into those plans.

“I've also worked with Stephen before, and I know exactly what he'll expect from me. That was a really important factor.

"Aberdeen is a huge football club with big ambitions and that's difficult to turn down. I want to be part of helping the Club compete at the top end of the table, return to Europe and challenge for trophies.

“From a personal point of view, I want to contribute goals, assists and strong performances, but above all else I want to help the team be successful. That's what matters most.”

Connor will link up with his new teammates later this week when they return for pre-season training on Thursday.

Everyone at Aberdeen Football Club extends a warm welcome to Connor and wishes him every success during his time at Pittodrie.
