Barry Robson spoke to the media on Tuesday lunchtime to preview our Viaplay Cup Quarter-final with Ross County in Dingwall. RedTV subscribers can watch in full through the video above.
“I think we all knew the games that we had coming, we had a lot of them. The good thing at Aberdeen Football Club is we are fighting in all competitions still and that’s where we wanted to be. What we need to do is try and perform the way we did at the weekend. We know it’s going to be difficult, it’s a real difficult place up there. Malky’s teams are really strong, well organised, disciplined, good at set plays, they are hard to play against in that arena. They are well coached. It’s going to be a difficult game for us but one that we need to be at our best and perform and if we do that, then we’ve got a chance.
“For me I am just hoping that we can go up and put a performance on. If we put a performance on we’ve got a chance to win the game, a good chance to win the game. We keep the players grounded after the weekend. They performed well but they need to go and do it again. And that’s it, it is as simple as that. We’ve got to go and do it again and if they do perform the way they’ve done. But as I said it’s a chance to go in the next round of the cup but you will need to we need to every detail right we need to perform our best to make sure that we can do that.
“I think it will be different (from Sunday). It’s a different arena out there and Malky might change things, I don’t know. That’s something that we can’t predict and we will need to try and work on a few things for anything that does change. We don’t know but what we do need to do is we need to focus on what we do and then we’ll try and do that. And hopefully we can get the things right in the game that can give us the best opportunity because you need to get that, everything needs to be right. That is set plays all the way down to throw-ins, pressing whatever it is you need to get every detail right.
“I think a lot of people think that if your not scoring goals then you are performing badly, he (Duk) wasn’t performing badly. I think people tend to forget that he was away with his national team until the 19th of June. He came back a bit later so it wasn’t easy. He was a bit behind everyone else. As his manager, his coaching staff and his teammates, we all believe in him. He’s a terrific talent and a terrific boy. And he will score goals and that never ever crossed my mind any other way. He’s got a smile on his face. He deserved his goal for his performances, because his numbers have been very good. His pressing numbers, his running numbers, sprint distance numbers have been very good over the last few weeks. So really pleased for him and hopefully he can maybe get a goal again on Wednesday.”
