Aberdeen boss Barry Robson was disappointed that his team left Ibrox empty handed after a strong display against Rangers this afternoon.
“In the first half, we had two brilliant chances to go into the lead and we needed to take them. They were great one on one chances.
“We had two brilliant chances, they don’t come around often when you come down to Ibrox. They were two brilliant chances, more than Rangers had.
“We had a stonewall penalty turned down. It’s frustrating for us but its a really good performance from us again. In the last 15 minutes we had a real good go at them to try and get back into the game. I said to the players, that is how we want to come down here and perform. On another day we could have come away with three points.
“I don’t know where we are at with VAR. I am actually really confused. I have watched it back and I don’t even get how they haven’t watched it back. I don’t know, did they check it, did they not check it? I do not know, I have no clue. I was watching it going ‘that to me looks like a free-kick.’ Then it carries on into the box and to me it looks like a penalty. And nothing is said, no one says anything and that is it. What is the point in having VAR?
“I haven’t seen it back but everybody is telling me that Cantwell is a lucky boy (to still be on the pitch). It is frustrating to say the least.
“Kelle made a couple of good saves for us in the first half too, but he didn’t have a save to make after the break. He didn’t have any chance with their goal, which was a poor one for us to concede from a set play.
“Other than that, I felt we defended well, obviously we had to make a change with Ross McCrorie being out, he’s had a hernia problem, but we’re hoping to have him back pretty quick.
“We tried to be aggressive when we could, not as aggressive as the last game because it’s not easy to do that at Ibrox. Rangers moved the ball out well as they do, we were ready for that, they’ve got good players because of the financial might they have. But I think we handled that.
“Structurally we were very good, we opened them up quickly at times, and on another day, it could have been a very different result.
“Hibs is a big game for us, it is one that we are looking forward to. I said that to the players. Everyone comes in tomorrow with their heads up, chest up. Lets go and we are ready to go for Hibs.”
