We recognise our unique standing in the local community and appreciate the importance of giving something back as we actively engage with the local communities that support and sustain the club.

Here is a small taster of the recent activity that various representatives of the football club have undertaken this past fortnight in our efforts to interact with our local community.

Ryan Jack and Peter Pawlett paid a visit to Ferryhill Primary School P3’s football team as they unveiled their new strips, kindly donated by Wood Group, at a training session. They boys took part in a skills session with the boys before taking questions and signing autographs.

Head of AFC in the Community Ally Prockter attended the prize giving for the 44th Boys Brigade at Mannofield Church, Aberdeen. As well as being entertained by the boys’ marching skills and games demonstrations, Ally & Julie presented the boys with their well deserved prizes as well as giving every child present an Aberdeen Football Club jester hat. A great evening was had by everyone.

Angus the Bull recently visited AFC in the Community Mini Kickers Programme at the Jesmond Sports Centre. The kids aged between 3-5 years were treated to a visit from the club mascot. Angus joined in with the session and also got his photo taken with the kids and signed some autographs.

AFC Community Coaches visited Westdyke to help launch the first week of the McDonalds Programme. The McDonalds Programme aims to grow capacity in a grassroots club with support from the Scottish FA and AFC. Pictured are attendees at the week 1 session, new players recruited to the club and parents who attended the Information & Volunteering Opportunities Meeting.

Recently Aberdeen FC in the Community provided kits to Harlaw pupils to give away during their visit to Rwanda. The pupils are now in Rwanda and have set up a blog to show all the good work they are doing.

The blog, which contains daily updates and photos of the kit being put to use within local community, can be seen by visiting http://harlawrwanda2013.wordpress.com
