New Aberdeen head coach Stephen Robinson spoke exclusively to RedTV after joining the club.

“I’m delighted. As soon as I heard about it, I was excited about it. I’ve had an incredible time at St Mirren. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve made memories for a lifetime. I’ve had total support from fans, from the board, from everybody.

“When this opportunity arose, there was no way I could turn it down. It was an opportunity that I’d waited for, to work at a club with the resources that Aberdeen has, to try and take the club forward.

“It’s a huge football club. I’ve worked with resources that are very tight, at Motherwell and St Mirren. When I look at this football club, the facilities it has, the training ground’s superb, there’s more plans for indoor arenas. The club’s debt free, which is fantastic. It’s very, very rare in football.

“When you see the support, you see the fans who go away from home consistently. I went to the Dundee United game and the support was incredible. From my own experience, the Red Army down at St Mirren and Motherwell, they travelled in numbers and it’s really, really exciting to work at a club of their size and take it forward.

“I feel that over the last 10 years my work speaks for itself in terms of winning football matches, European adventures with Motherwell and St Mirren, top three finishes with Motherwell, top six finishes three times in a row, and cup runs and semi-finals.

“I’m determined to bring success to this football club. It has had success and then the next season has been a struggle. What we have to do is bring a level of consistency that rewards the investment into the football club, rewards the supporters for the constant belief in turning up every single weekend. To have faith that we will get this club stability and a direction and an identity and certainly take the club forward consistently.”
