Midfielder Naomi McLaughlin has joined Aberdeen from NIFL Premiership side Cliftonville on a deal until the end of the season, with the Club securing a one-year option.

20-year-old McLaughlin heads across the water after two seasons at The Reds, where she won the domestic treble during the 2023/2024 season.

Previously of Sion Swifts Ladies, McLaughlin has represented Northern Ireland at U19 level and previously won the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership Player of the Month award for June 2025, after recording four goal contributions as her side fought back from 2-0 down to beat Glentoran Women 4-2 in the Women’s League Cup final.

As she embarks on the next stage of her career in the North-east, McLaughlin said:

“It feels amazing to be here. Aberdeen is a very big Club, so I’m excited to get started.

“I’ve developed a lot over the past couple of years and now I feel it’s the right time to take a step up and test myself. I’m a committed, hard-working player. I like to be creative, get on the ball, create chances and go forward, and hopefully I can add some goals to the team as well.”

“The conversations about the women’s programme have been really exciting. I want to help the team move forward and be successful.”

McLaughlin will wear the No.10 shirt during her time with the Dons and goes straight into the squad for Sunday’s trip to Hamilton Academical, subject to international clearance.

Manager Scott Booth is pleased to add the young midfielder to his ranks ahead of a busy second half of the campaign.

He said: “I am really happy that Naomi has decided to join us at Aberdeen.

“As soon as I heard she was available she was someone I was keen to add to our squad. She has a lot of qualities that can help us achieve our collective goals, and her potential is huge. I am really looking forward to working with her.”
