Scott Booth was a happy man after his Aberdeen Women side defeated Hamilton Academical 5-0 at the Balmoral this afternoon.

“It’s nice to see the players score goals and create lots of chances. I think we had 18 crosses in the first half alone and put into practice some of the stuff that we’d worked on. I think today when we were aggressive going forward, it really showed, and that was the difference. It’s nice to keep a clean sheet as well at the other end, all in all, a really good day.

“Once hundred percent this helps build confidence for the players, and I think the manner of that win will definitely do that.

“I’ve said Aimee’s got attributes that we can work with. She’s proven she can be clinical and take her chances. She’s quite calm in front of goal, but she’s got all the other attributes: athleticism, work rate, strength, decent on both sides, left and right. She’s done really well since moving up top.

“It was nice that Mya came back into things having had the concussion and got a goal. I think she did well when she came on, again, aggressive and athletic. Eva worked really hard again today, and for the two of them in there, it was a hard job, but she’s always in and around the goals, and it was nice for her to get the goal after all the work she put in.

“We’ll enjoy this one, go away, and start to prepare for the next one. Hopefully, we can put in a similar performance.

“We feel we can really hurt Hearts and cause problems. We’ve seen that here against the bigger teams, that with a bit of confidence behind us, we can go and make it really difficult for them. We’ll look at Hearts’ analysis and work out the best way to play them, but we’re at home and we want the three points. Hopefully, we can turn in a similar performance with a similar result.

“It was really important today to cement the three points and play like we did. It’s a league where it’s very difficult to get momentum, so it would be nice to try and follow up that three points with a similar performance and three points again.”
