Galloway swaps North-East England for North-East Scotland
Experienced forward Bridget Galloway has joined Aberdeen Women on a permanent transfer following her departure from WSL2 side Nottingham Forest.
26-year-old Galloway heads across the border with a strong background in English football, having played senior football for Sunderland, Durham, Newcastle, and most recently Forest.
The Gateshead born frontwomen made her first team debut for The Black Cats in 2016, coming on to replace recent Women’s Euros winner Beth Mead in a WSL1 match against Notts County.
She would go on to play 51 times for Sunderland and net on 37 occasions. Her first goal in red, black and white was the winner in a WSL Cup match against Liverpool in 2017.
A spell at WSL2 Durham followed, where she spent three years in the countries second division before moving to her childhood club, Newcastle United, scoring 17 times to catapult The Magpies to The Northern Premier Division Title.
Bridget would soon be on the move again, joining Nottingham Forest in August 2024 on a one-year contract. The striker has also represented England seven times at U19 level.
Dons manager Scott Booth is pleased to the experienced Galloway to his ranks ahead of season 2025/26. He said: “Bridget can bring a lot to what we are trying to achieve this season.
“She has a real strength; she holds the ball well. She is very experienced, she has been at some big clubs, and we are looking forward to working with her, and having someone else that will be able to contribute to the squad.
“Hopefully we will have a couple more additions in the next week or so to help us even more.”
Having featured off the bench in our friendly against Glasgow City on Sunday, Bridget is excited to get straight down to work at Cormack Park.
She said: “It feels amazing to be here.
“As soon as I spoke to Scott I couldn’t wait to come up. His aspirations for the season are impressive, and I’m ready to help take on the challenge.
“I’m a traditional number nine. I know the league is a good standard, it’s a physical league, but I believe my attributes will match that well.
“It is a new chapter, a new adventure, the facilities look amazing, and I can’t wait to get started.”
