Author AFC Media Team

Thanks to our Scottish Cup Final heroics back in May, Aberdeen will enter the UEFA Europa League play-off round, which is the final qualifying stage before the league phase. This means the Dons are already guaranteed European league phase football: either in the Europa League if we progress, or in the Europa Conference League should we fall short in the play-offs.

The draw is due to take place today in Nyon, Switzerland, At 1200 BST time.

We will be unseeded in the play-off round, so there’s a possibility we could be drawn against one of the sides that drops down from the Champions League third qualifying round (League Path).

The first team drawn in each tie will be the home team for the first leg.

You can follow the draw on the UEFA website.

Key Dates

The Europa League third qualifying round ties take place on 7 and 14 August, with the winners advancing to the play-off round to join Aberdeen and others in the final draw.

The two-legged, Europa League play-off ties are scheduled for 21 and 28 August.

Who Could We Face?

A total of 24 teams will play in the play-off round. Seeding of the teams will be based on their 2025 UEFA club coefficients.

Before the draw, UEFA have formed groups of seeded and unseeded teams per the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee.

We have been placed in Group 2, and will play the winner of one of the following ties:

Panathinaikos FC (GRE) v FC Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR)

Fredrikstad FK (NOR) v FC Midtjylland (DEN)

FCSB (ROU) v FC Drita (KOS)

Lech Poznan (POL) v FK Crvena Zvezda (SRB) * We will play the loser of this tie (Champions League 3rd Round Qualifier)

What comes next?

The winner of the tie will advance to the League phase.

The loser of the tie will be transferred to the Conference League League Phase.

The draw for both league phases will take place on Friday 29 August.
