A first interview with Nicolas Milanovic
The Dons have welcomed a number of new faces this summer who are all settling into life with the squad. Nicolas Milanovic’s signing was announced back in May but the forward only arrived in the North-east last week before jetting off with the squad to Portugal.
The Australian sat down with RedTV in Portugal to discuss his move to the Dons, his recent training camp with The Socceroos, pre-season and his friendship with Nick Suman and Kusini Yengi.

“Everyone’s been really, really welcoming. I think that was one of the main things in my head when I was coming was, ‘how was the changing room going to be, how are the boys going to be towards me and the group?’ But I can’t fault them at all. They’ve been very welcoming.
“Nearly every player has come up to me and asked me about my life and what’s what’s been my story. They’ve been really, really welcoming. Now going to Portugal for this camp, I think it’s just going to get better with the bond and the chemistry for the season upcoming.
“Our fathers, mine & Nick Suman’s, were good friends when they were younger. I played with Nick’s younger brother at an MPL team in Australia, Sydney United for a good, three, four, maybe five years. We’re all good friends, and then I always knew Nick and his sister as well, and they’re a great family, which shows with Nick. He’s a great guy. I don’t think many people could say anything really bad about him.
“With Kusini I came to Western Sydney in January and he was there. I got to play with him for six months and he’s a bully, he’s a big striker, and he’s fearing for defenders.
“It was actually a real privilege to play with him and see what it’s like to play with with big players like that.
“I heard and did my research that it was a one club, one city but I didn’t really expect that on the bus through the city (Scottish Cup parade). I thought that some of the photos and videos I saw when I woke up the next morning, I thought that is crazy. Winning a title for this club, I want to be a part of that.
“I’ve never done that before, a parade for any title. So that’s definitely a dream of mine.”
