Dons return for pre-season
The Dons were back in the building on Thursday morning with the first-team squad returning to Cormack Park to begin their pre-season.
The Scottish Cup champions were reacquainted with the trophy upon their arrival to the training ground in the morning, with new faces Nicolas Milanovic, Nick Suman, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Kusini Yengi all meeting their new teammates for the first time prior to completing their standard pre-season testing.
Jimmy Thelin’s side will head to Portugal in the coming days to undertake a 10-day intense warm weather camp to build up their fitness ahead of the 2025/2026 season kicking off.
Dons defender and Scottish Cup winning hero Jack Milne spoke to RedTV to recap on the history making weekend, and to look ahead to another important pre-season camp. RedTV subscribers can watch the interview in full here.
“Being from the city myself and with all my family also being from Aberdeen and being Aberdeen fans, I think it does make it that wee bit wee bit more special.
“Ever since I was a little boy, it was always my dream to play for Aberdeen and win something with Aberdeen, and we’ve gone and done that.
“It’s just an amazing feeling. I still don’t know if it’ll ever fully sink in, and we’ll realize what we achieved. At the same time, it makes us want to go and do it again, and we don’t want to wait another 35 years.
“We know it’s early in pre-season, but it’s full on, it’s a lot of training.
“Everything we do is with each other, the manager, and the staff. It gets you into those habits really early, which I think is super important.
“The trip is a wee bit longer this year, but we will enjoy it a lot because the weather and the facilities are really good out there.
“The camps help bring all of us together, especially the new lads that are coming in. Spending all that time with each other is really important.”
