SCOTTISH CUP WINNERS PARADE CONFIRMED
Following Aberdeen FC’s triumph in the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup Final earlier this afternoon the Club is delighted to announce the trophy parade will take place on Sunday 25th May at 12 noon.
Aberdeen City Council have confirmed a celebratory parade will take place down Union Street with the Red Army being given the opportunity, as has been done throughout the history of the club, to welcome the victorious team back to the Granite City as they bring the cup home.
The open top bus will make its way down Union Street, along Union Terrace and Schoolhill before making its way onto Broad Street with the parade culminating at the Town Hall where the team will officially be welcome by Lord Provost, Dr David Cameron, for a formal civic reception.
Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Dr David Cameron said: “On behalf of the city of Aberdeen, I offer my warmest congratulations to Aberdeen Football Club on their Scottish Cup Final triumph against Celtic.
“This is a fantastic achievement not only for the football club but for our entire city and it was great to see thousands of Aberdeen fans descend on Hampden Park to support the team and witness their winning performance, a day which I’m sure will live long in the memory of Dons fans.”
Alan Burrows, Aberdeen FC chief executive added: “We look forward to celebrating one of our greatest ever cup victories on Sunday with our supporters.
“This is truly a remarkable achievement for the Club and is just reward for the incredible way in which everyone has come together; players, staff and supporters this season to drive us on to success.
“We thank Aberdeen City Council and the Lord Provost for kindly supporting this historic event, both financially and operationally, particularly as the turnaround time was very tight.
“I look forward to witnessing a sea of red and white on Union Street as the Red Army and the wider community join us to celebrate the Dons’ 20th major honour.”
Aberdeen City Council have announced full road closures and parade details for supporters.
