Kevin Nisbet Wins SPFL Goal of the Season
Kevin Nisbet’s brilliant strike against Hibernian at Pittodrie in April has been named as The William Hill SPFL Goal of the Season. The goal was chosen on the SPFL’s official podcast ‘The Warm-Up.’
Speaking to RedTV about his goal, Kevin said:
“It’s probably the first Goal of the Season Award that I have won in my career, even a Goal of the Month Award that goal got as well. It’s great and it’s one to add to the mantlepiece.
“I just remember the ball coming in. I knew Rocky (Bushiri) wouldn’t get as much of a header on it, so I just stepped back a bit. I took a great touch on my chest, and I just just hit it and it’s gone into the back of the net.
“For me, it went really slow motion, if I’m honest. I think when chances like that happen, it goes really slowly. I took a great touch and I’ve tried to go back across the keeper because he wouldn’t expect it.
“It just missed the cut off for the Aberdeen Goal of the Season Awards but I would say it’s better than Ester’s goal that won it! His was a great strike. I feel you always score goals like that after the voting ends. Ester’s was a great finish but I put mine up there as well.
“I think it is the best goal that I have scored. I think the time in the game, the moment in the game as well, and how quality the goal was. It probably was my best goal.”
