Aberdeen FC Girls Academy Awards 24/25
The first ever Aberdeen FC Girls Academy Awards took place at Pittodrie on Wednesday night.
A celebration of the academy as it’s first season comes to a close, all players from U13, U15 and U17s were in attendance to receive a medal and certificate to mark their hard work across the campaign.
Women’s first team players Megan Sidey, Annalisa McCann and Keira MacPherson were all in attendance to take part in a Q&A on stage, and to hand out the awards to the lucky recipients.
Congratulations to all our award winners:
Goal of the Season: Krissi Tulloch
U13s Player of the Season: Millie Sellar
U15s Player of the Season: Lexie Colquhoun
U17s Player of the Season: Erin Carrol
Girls Programme Manager Jo Belot spoke to RedTV to reflect on both the night and a successful first season for the Girls Academy:
“Tonight has been a really enjoyable evening to get all the academy together, with the young players and their families, coaches, directors, scouts and sponsors. It is one that the girls can look back on and be proud of.
“With it being the first one, I think there was maybe a little bit of apprehension to what to expect, but it’s been nice to celebrate the success of all the three teams, and reflect on the season and the progression that all the teams have made over the course of the year because for some, it’s been their first experience of academy football.
“I came into my role in October, and it has been a really enjoyable six/seven months. It’s gone really quickly, but I think the most important thing is seeing how much the girls are enjoying their football. We’ve still got a long way to go, and we keep striving, but it’s a really exciting time to be a part of the academy.
“I think the way the game’s accelerating across the country, it’s going to be challenging on year on year, but that’s a good challenge for us. Hopefully it keeps the girls motivated to succeed.
“They wear the club badge with pride. The girls come from a grassroots environment, so the challenges and the demands we put on the players and the parents, the sacrifice they have to make, but ultimately, they’re really proud to play for the club, and so they should be.
“Peterson has a huge support over the season. All the staff at Peterson have been really, supportive and visible, and I think that’s really important in a partnership. A big thanks must go to them.”
