Scott Booth reacts to our final day victory
Scott Booth shared his thoughts at full-time after Aberdeen Women beat Queen’s Park 3-0 at Ochilview to round out season 24/25 in style.
“I think we’d have taken the situation we’re in now when I first came in: to be safe, and to be relatively comfortably safe: in what’s been a pretty crazy season where three teams go down.
“It’s amazing for Hibs to win the league, we have got to give them credit for that. They’ve done it, and Grant’s done an amazing job there this season. They deserve to win it. Congratulations to them.
“Commiserations to Spartans, and congratulations to Montrose. They turned it on when they really needed to. There’s been a lot of difficult games this season, a lot of close games, and I think we can be proud of the fact that we’ve managed to come through all that.
“For Montrose, that looked like they were out of it, to go and win as many games as they have, under pressure, to make sure they stayed in the league. that just shows the hunger they brought to stay in this league.
“It’s going to be really, really tough next season, you’re talking about a ten-team league, and the majority of those teams are fully professional.
“I think in the first-half today we were our own worst enemy at times. But other than that, I think we were very comfortable. We scored some really good goals, had even more chances than we took.
“I suppose it was a little bit inevitable that in the second half on a hot day that the game would sort of peter out. And that’s pretty much what happened.
“The players have been through a lot. They’re justifiably tired, because we’ve had a spell there of maybe three weeks where it just felt like we were playing every other day.
“I’m proud of the fact that they’ve kept this really great club in the SWPL1. And now we can lift it again next season.”
