“(Playing Rangers) everyone knows how much it means to the supporters, means to us. Going to Ibrox, it is always going to be a difficult game, but I felt like we made it more difficult than it is supposed to be. As the manager said in the press after the game, we collapsed after the first goal and became a team of individuals than a collective. We know when we play collectively we have a very good team but for some reason, we went away from that. It is now all about regrouping and being positive. The good thing about football, that game is gone and there is another game tomorrow. Another big game.

“When you play for a football club like Aberdeen, these games are huge. These games mean so much to everyone involved with AFC and that is why we play for this football club. We want to do well. We want to do well against the best teams in the league and tomorrow is a great opportunity to make amends for the last game.

“The fans have their opinions (about Sunday) and they are right to say whatever they like. That is what makes our game so beautiful and so special. But for us, every single person is being positive. Yes sometimes things don’t work out on the pitch. Any team, no matter who they are, can have problems. For us it is about bouncing back, regrouping. We watched the video to see what went wrong and to make sure we don’t do it again.

“We have proved it this season. When this team plays to the best of its ability, we are a very dangerous team. We create opportunities, we are solid at the back but sometimes you lose games. What should not happen, is we lose the game like we did on Sunday.

“We have to keep doing what we are good at. The best teams in the world, when they go a goal down, they don’t panic. They have to keep doing the things they are good at. That is something we need to be better at. The manager has addressed it, and I am sure the boys have taken it on board.

“It is an amazing game for us to show it tomorrow.

“Performances lead to good results. If you have a good performance, more often than not, you will win the game. For us, it is about getting back to playing well and we are at home. We have been good at home this season, especially with the fans behind us who have been incredible. Tomorrow night will be another really big crowd which gives us the opportunity to show that we are a very good team when we are on it. But we need to be on it because we know Celtic are a very dangerous team. I think it will be an exciting game.

“Every single player needs to be committed to this football club because it means so much to the city, so much for the fans. When you sign the contract to join a special club like Aberdeen you need to be on it. If someone is not on it, they will be told. There are experienced players in the change room and if they see someone slacking or not doing their work, they will be told.

“But that is not the case.

“Everyone is committed. Everyone is fighting for the same cause. We want to finish in Europe. Hopefully we can win something.

“You have to be positive.

“When you have a negative mindset, you are never going to achieve anything. Not just in football, but in life in general. We have had a lot of conversations and we have a lot of leaders in this team. Just because Graeme is the captain does not mean his is the only leader. We need to speak to get an understanding of each other. The more games we play the better the understanding will become, the more we will understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. As a group it is really important to speak and say what we are comfortable doing and what we are not comfortable doing. It comes over time. It does not happen overnight. The better teams, they have played together over two or three seasons.

“It has been a season like none I have ever been involved with before. At the start it was like, we can beat any team, we are never going to lose a game. Then it was a feeling of where is the next win coming from? But that is when you need a good mentality. When things are going against you, you need to stick to the principles that you know, you have to stick to a way of playing that you know, and then eventually the performances will improve and as I said earlier, if the performances are good, the results will follow. There are some occasions when you win but don’t play well. But it does not happen very often. We need to find a level of consistency with our performances, home and away.

“The cup final is too far away to think about. We have two games before then. We are still trying to finish third. I know it will be very difficult, but we have to believe. If you lose belief as a player, it is not good. You have to believe and anything can happen in football. We can only control our actions, our performances and starts tomorrow.

“It is all well and good me sitting here and telling you what needs to be done. It needs to be done on the pitch.”
