Pittodrie has been recognised as one of two Highly Commended pitches in the 2024/25 Pitch of the Season Award.

The groundstaff overcame unique challenges throughout the season to maintain excellent pitch quality and this award is credit for the high standards consistently achieved.

In its inaugural year, the SPFL Pitch of the Season awards, are the culmination of 12 months of work as part of the Pitch Quality Support Programme in partnership with the SPFL. Throughout the season, ProPitch carried out three targeted pitch assessments provided objective, data-driven insights to the clubs, whilst also working collaboratively with club groundstaff, sharing knowledge and identifying tailored solutions.

“The ProPitch programme has been an enlightening experience this season”, said David Nicholson, Aberdeen FC Head Groundsman.

“It’s been beneficial to see how our pitch is performing from the data results, and it’s been valuable to hear opinions and experiences from fellow groundstaff at the meetings, particularly when it seems we all face similar challenges.

“Personally, I am proud of my team. They deserve to be recognised for the dedication and effort they put into their work, and we are all delighted with how this pitch has performed this year.”
