We had a long talk inside the dressing room

Following defeat Ibrox, Jimmy Thelin admitted that there was a lengthy inquest held in the Aberdeen changing room as they looked for reasons behind conceding three goals inside 15 minutes.

“We had a long talk inside the dressing room after the game and I think performance-wise, after their first goal, it’s like we’re not a collective team anymore. We play as individuals and then we open the space and it was way too easy for them to arrive at our goal with just a few passes.

“In the first half, we were a block, we created nothing but we were stable as a block. In the second half we tried to push for a bit more, and we started the second half quite well, we create some chances and they create some chances, but after their first goal, it was just 11 individuals, not a team anymore.

“When that happens, then it’s difficult for to play football because it’s a collective sport and you have to take responsibility and have discipline, especially playing away. You have to run more, you have to be better in the challenge one against one. After their first goal, it was space everywhere and then you drain yourself, you don’t help each other and then it’s difficult to play football.

“Today the question right now is about how we defend after that 1-0, because the game is not over, there’s still a lot of time and if you stay calm and trust each other better, you still have an opportunity and that’s a real disappointment for everyone.

“That’s what football is so complex sometimes. We have a lot to play for, we have a really big away support again, before the game everything feels fine and then from this moment when the score goes 1-0 things broke down. We have to work on the way we manage games when it’s difficult out there, but in the short term, we just have to recover and do a better performance on Wednesday. I am sure you will see better from us then.”
