It could be up there with my best goal

Kevin Nisbet grabbed Aberdeen’s winner against Hibernian and while it was a vital one, it was also another goal of real quality too.

“It could be up there with my best goal of my career if I’m completely honest. I’m off balance as well, but it’s gone in. I wanted to just go back across the keeper because I don’t think he was expecting it.

“As soon as I took it to the chest and struck it, I just knew it was going in. It’s what we deserved. Throughout the game we were good going forward, defended well. There were a couple of iffy moments but it was three points we deserved.

“We knew how big this game was. It’s probably the same magnitude as the semi-final. Losing was not an option today and drawing wasn’t an option either. It was just about winning and thankfully we got the job done.

“Winning 1-0 today is probably what we were like at the start of the season. I think staying in the game and winning with a bit of quality, just taking a moment, is something we’ve done well the last few weeks. We’re in a cup final and we’re joint third now on points, which is great for the last four games.

“The last ten minutes were very nervy, I ended up dropping back to centre-mid, just to shore things up and try and keep the boys calm. Dante coming on was massive for us. He’s been great in training and he’s pushing for a start now, we’ve got boys coming off the bench that are making impacts, which is always good.

“I’m happy to be contributing with performances and goals. For me, it was just about getting 90 minutes under my belt consistently. Since the Dunfermline game, I’ve played nearly every minute which is great for me because I started feeling sharper and fitter. Even today, I wasn’t probably at my best, but I know I’ve got that bit of quality to put a chance away when it comes.”
