Aberdeen Women captain Hannah Stewart was delighted with a fine night’s work at Pittodrie that saw the skipper net her first ever goal at the home of the Dons in a memorable win that got Scott Booth’s side off to the best possible start with their post-split fixtures.

“We’re really, really happy. On a personal note, to score here at Pittodrie, in front of loads of people, family, friends, and kids from my school—yeah, it’s a really proud moment. But as a team, collectively, every single player who stepped on that pitch, did a job and did exactly what we’d worked so hard on over the past few weeks to put on the pitch. Everyone played their role. I think you could see from that performance what we’re trying to do, and we executed it really well.”

“I’ve worked hard, and it’s been tough the past couple of seasons, but it’s always been a dream to play at Pittodrie. To score just tops it off. Last time was really special—first time walking out at Pittodrie as the captain, but this time maybe tops it. Scoring at Pittodrie is so special. It’s probably up there with one of the best days of my life.”

“Me and Fran had quite the link up!  We knew we’d have lots of the ball, and we knew we were going to have to use the wide areas to hurt Dundee United. I think you can see from both goals—Fran’s header was really good as well. I am just glad that my one went in.”

“It is a great start for us in the split. We need to get points on the board if we want to end up where we want to come the end of the season. It’s a really good start, and it lets us kick on for the remaining nine games in the league.”

“The fans were great tonight. I think my whole school was here! You could hear them on the pitch—they were the loudest section, so well done to them. But to all the fans, they came out in their numbers today. The boys with the drums, everyone’s friends and family—it’s a special night for everyone.”

“It’ll be nice to get a little bit of a rest now, get the legs rested, and then it is back to training, and we will prepare for the next game.”
