A frustrated Scott Booth shared his view of proceedings after his Aberdeen side fell to a 4-2 defeat at K-Park, after the Dons had led 2-1 at the break.

“It’s frustrating because the first half, I felt like we just needed to compete a bit more. I felt like they were just a bit on top of us in the midfield area.

“We were finding it hard to deal with their pressing and just sort of stay in the game. We lost a goal direct from a corner, which can’t happen. It was just far too easy. And in these games as well, where you’re trying to stay in the game, but you lose a goal direct from a corner that is two yards from the goal line. It was frustrating. We get the goal back. We get a foothold and then we manage to make it 2-1.

“At halftime, we talked about the enforced change with Maddie. She was only able to play 60 minutes today, part of her recovery program. So we talked about that change so that everyone could get their head around it. I was just frustrated that we make the change, and then Niamh makes a really poor challenge, a poor decision. She gives the referee a decision to make, and from then on, you’re going to be uphill because you just know the way that Motherwell play anyway – They’re a high-paced team, and when you’re a player down, it makes it really difficult. So frustrating.

“I just felt that all the goals were pretty poor goals to lose. The one that Annalisa spills, you’d like to think that she could save that one, but you’re also asking players to track runners to make sure that she doesn’t get to the rebound. So again, I think that what it comes down to is if you have individual errors in these games, if you make poor decisions in these games, it can affect the outcome 100%, because that’s what happened tonight.

“We stayed in the game. We get it back to two-one. We get a chance to talk about it and try and tweak a few things. And then, from the sixtieth minute onwards, it was poor. When we went down to ten, I felt like the players dug out really well. The communication went up, and that’s something we need to learn from. That level of communication and connection that we had in that period when we were down a player, without the ball, was as good as we’ve been at that.

“We need to be able to do that while we’ve still got everyone on the pitch, and I think the players recognized that tonight.”
