Rowson joins AFC Women as assistant head coach and technical lead
Aberdeen FC can confirm the appointment of Katie Rowson, who joins the Club as assistant head coach and technical lead of AFC Women on an initial deal until the end of the season.
Rowson, who most recently held the post of WSL Academy Technical Lead at topflight club Everton, joins the Dons on a full-time basis to work alongside manager Scott Booth.
An UEFA A License holder, the new assistant has also spent time working at Chesterfield, Doncaster Rover Belles, and Watford, after starting her coaching journey Stateside.
A colourful career in football has also included a stint as Technical Director of the British Virgin Islands FA, where she was one of three females within the 209 member associations of FIFA to hold the Technical Director role.
Rowson has commenced her new post and will be in the dugout for Sunday’s trip to Glasgow City.
Scott Booth is pleased to see Rowson join the ranks as he continues to get settled back into the North-East:
“Being able to bring in someone of Katie’s calibre is fantastic for us because first and foremost she’s a very good coach, but she has other real strengths as well that will help us as the women’s program continues to develop.
“We’ve got to know each other well over the last 18 months. I felt as soon as she became available, she was 100% the right person to bring in. I was delighted that she was interested in the in the role and has now come on board.”
