Jimmy Thelin on our draw with Hearts
It was a second draw in a week in Edinburgh for the Dons, but boss Jimmy Thelin had no complaints about the final score at Tynecastle, despite his side having been in front.
“I think it was a fair result. We have some parts when we were ahead that we can do better maybe, but also they did well. Sometimes we lost the rhythm and dynamic in our team, and gave away the ball in some situations and they create momentum from that, and that’s a thing we need to keep working at.
“When it’s an intense game and we’re not fully there, then we can make these small, small mistakes and that can also give momentum for Hearts, but also vice versa.
“We played three difficult away games, and if you draw away, sometimes they’re good results, but of course you always want to win games and you always want to take points, but it’s not that easy. For us, our journey is still long-term, we have a lot of things to improve, and that’s what we’re trying to do every week, and grow with that.
“Sometimes during a long season, you have periods when the dynamic is not perfect, and then you have these things that happen, that usually don’t happen. Every team is going to get this period, and how we get out of them is the most important thing. During this period now, we have these three away games, and we draw twice and lose one, and it was not the perfect flow, but it happens every year in every team. Hopefully we can get back to our best rhythm quickly.”
There were six changes to the starting XI at Tynecastle, and the manager explained his thinking behind that move.
“We feel like we had two difficult games now, St Mirren and Hibernian, and both away, and then we go down to Edinburgh again, so we just need to feel to keep making some freshness inside the team. That’s why we have a good squad, and it’s good to see the players who haven’t played so much do so well on the pitch, that’s also good for the future for us.”
