Aberdeen FC Announces the Return of the Craig Brown Memorial Trophy U16 Tournament
Aberdeen Football Club is delighted to announce that the Craig Brown Memorial Trophy U16 Tournament will be returning for its second year, following the success of the inaugural event in 2023.
This prestigious tournament, which will be sponsored by RAM Tubulars, and held in honour of former Dons Manager, Director, and Ambassador, Craig Brown CBE, will once again take place at Cormack Park, on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September.
The first tournament saw Aberdeen emerge victorious, defeating Rangers in a thrilling final at Cormack Park, and we are excited to build on that success in 2024 with 8 more sides confirmed as attending.
The tournament will maintain its exciting 11-a-side format and this year The Dons will host Bohemians, Newcastle United, Dundee, Celtic, Motherwell, Preston North End and Rangers as we once again celebrate Craig Brown’s lasting legacy, his dedication to youth football, and his remarkable contribution to Scottish football.
Craig Brown was a towering figure in the football world, known for his outstanding managerial career, which included leading Aberdeen FC and guiding the Scottish national team to unforgettable moments in European and World football. His passion for nurturing young talent and his commitment to the development of the game in Scotland continue to inspire future generations.
The tournament has once again been made possible thanks to several local sponsors, many of whom had a close personal association with Craig Brown, and we are extremely grateful to them for their commitment to the 2024 tournament.

The Craig Brown Memorial Trophy U16 Tournament has become a fitting tribute to Craig’s enduring influence on Scottish football and his unwavering support for youth development.
AFC Youth Academy Director, Stuart Glennie, said: “After the success of last year’s tournament, we are excited to bring back the Craig Brown Memorial Trophy for a second year. Craig’s influence on the game was huge, giving many young players opportunities to go and have a career in football so we feel this is a fitting tribute to that legacy.
“We are honoured to host this event once again and look forward to welcoming teams, supporters, and families for what promises to be another fantastic weekend of football.”
All supporters are encouraged to attend Cormack Park over the course of the weekend with the opening ceremony set to take place at 9.30am on Saturday 7th September, and the first set of matches due to kick-off at 10am. A full schedule can be found below.
