Young Dons duo extend deals
Two exciting young talents have penned extended contracts with AFC Women ahead of the 24/25 campaign.
Eva Thomson, one of the first players to sign a semi-professional contract back in 2022, has extended her stay until 2026, and Hannah Innes has signed her first semi-professional contract with The Dons at the age of 22 on a deal until 2025.
19-year-old midfielder Thomson, who has been part of the AFC Women’s set-up since 2019, has now amassed well over 100 appearances for The Dons and has been an integral part of the side which has re-established Aberdeen’s presence in the top flight over the past few seasons.
Looking forward to the season ahead, Eva commented, “It is a really proud moment for me. My main goals for next season are to get as many minutes as possible again, add some more goals to my game and also play a part as a role model for some of the younger players.”
Innes, who spent time out on loan during the 22/23 season, had a breakthrough campaign for the Dons establishing her place as a first-team regular in the wing-back position and netted a nomination for SWPL Goal of the Season for her memorable strike during the match with Montrose at Pittodrie.
After signing her first semi-professional contract, Hannah said, “It feels really good to be signing this contract and like a reward for all of the hard work to get in the team last season. I want to push on even more for next season personally and also as a team and I am looking forward to getting back for pre-season now and getting started again.”
