After Peter Leven went into hospital on Friday, it was Scott Anderson who took charge of the Aberdeen side in the 1-0 win over St Johnstone and he was pleased to be able to continue the recent run of good results.

“We were pleased with the second half in particular, in terms of the chances created, and again, as we’ve done in the previous few fixtures, we’ve managed to keep the backdoor shut and we’ve got a clean sheet. So, overall, it was a positive afternoon. The remaining games we’ll look to win, and we’ll look to finish as high as possible.

“Part of the message at half-time was to be a bit more patient with the ball. I thought we did that in the second half, and I think we controlled the game because of that. Opportunities were coming. We possibly could have taken one or two others, but we got our noses in front and apart from their chance later on with the header, I think we were really quite comfortable in the game.”

The game was won with a second half penalty, earned by Nicky Devlin’s run into the box, some effort from the right-back.

“We managed to get the penalty, and I’m really pleased that Bojan managed to stick it away. It’s 50 games for Nicky Devlin now this season, that’s been the most games Nicky’s played, without a doubt, in any season. Credit that he’s still bombing up the park at that stage of the game. He’s part of the back four and a team that’s got another clean sheet. We can be really pleased with him.”

Scott also had a word on Peter Leven’s state of health after the game.

“Peter’s fine, he’s on the mend. Obviously, his health comes first, so when he knew he had to go in last night, it was a bit of a shock. But everything’s fine, and we’re hoping to have Peter back in the early part of next week, back on the training pitch with the boys.

“The players all hold Peter in high regard, so part of their efforts today was definitely to make sure that they got the three points and gave him something to smile about. We managed to do that, and now it’s onwards to the next one.”
