AFC Women | Laura Holden | Hamilton Accies Preview
Dons’ midfielder Laura Holden looked forward to Sunday’s Scottish Power Women’s Premier League encounter with Hamilton Academical at the Balmoral Stadium on Sunday.
The former Cheltenham Town player feels the team are starting to click after a positive start to the campaign but warned that there is still work to do ahead of the weekend’s game.
“I think it’s showing on the pitch that we’re starting to gel together as a team. Training has been good and what Clint is trying to get from us is starting to show and everyone is buying in to what he’s trying to do. You can see that in how we have been playing, we’ve dominated the ball for large spells but there are still things we need to work on, and we’ll work hard to iron them out for Sunday.
“We know Hamilton are a tough team to come up against. We played against them in pre-season, so we know what they’re all about. We’re just taking game by game at the minute, but we want to follow up a good three points on the road last week with another win on Sunday. The girls will be up for it being a home game and we’ll do everything we can to get the win.”
Holden arrived in Aberdeen in the summer and as well as trying to fit into the side, she is also settling in to life in the Granite City.
“I feel like every game that goes by I’m starting to click a bit more with the girls. I think that shows in how happy I’ve been on the pitch. I wouldn’t say I’ve shown my best football yet but as the games have gone by my confidence has grown and the girls have backed me up on the pitch so I’m very happy. I was so set in my ways at home that I think I just needed to find a routine here. Everything happened in a short space of time in terms of moving but the place is lovely and everyone I speak to are really nice so it’s a lovely place to live and I’m looking forward to getting out and exploring the area more.”
