"We know we need to be better"
Barry Robson reflected on the Dons’ 2-0 defeat to Hibs as he spoke to the press after the game.
“It was a difficult day for us. We know we need to be better, but I thought you saw two tired teams today. Hibs were in the same boat, but they were more clinical than we were when it mattered. The goals were avoidable, there are tired minds as well as bodies out there.
“We started quite well, we had a good chance in the first few minutes, but you could see from pretty early in the game, when we wanted to get after them, the boys couldn’t quite get there. We needed to be patient and work the ball a bit more.
“We’re on a learning curve from playing in Europe, I think that’s clear. We tried to get fresh legs into the team, the heat didn’t help, there were players on the pitch that we wanted to take off but couldn’t.
“Shayden Morris came on at half-time and you could see straight away that was going to make a big difference in the game but obviously he picked up a hamstring injury after five or ten minutes. That’s fatigue, he’s a young player learning to cope with the demands being put on him. Hopefully he won’t be out too long.
“A lot of boys, it was their first or second game for us, they’re still getting their feet under the table. We’ve had to build a whole new squad once the loan players went back at the end of last season. We need time to get up and running as a team. The international break is a good time to get these boys together, get some good work done and to see where we’re at. As we go on, we will get better, we’ll be alright.”
