Fair Play for All event 2023 a resounding success!
Inclusive, energising, and educational
Earlier this month, Aberdeen FC and Aberdeen FC Community Trust co-hosted the second Fair Play for All – ‘energising the community’ event at Cormack Park.
Thanks to our Women’s Team partners, Boskalis, Tendeka and GAC another 80 children from four primary schools across Aberdeen City and Shire benefitted from a unique day of engaging education with a football focus. Not only that, but in collaboration with local charity WeToo!, the event was able to extend to a second relaxed day that catered for an additional 16 children.
Aberdeen FC Community Trust delivered the majority of activities across both days; leveraging the power of football to engage youngsters in a bespoke and fun filled day that included a number of the unique programmes operated by the Trust across the North-East on a weekly basis. The programme for Fair Play for All was designed with opportunities to be active, whilst learning life skills; AFCCT providing professional football coaching, MINDSET mental health empowerment and STEM robotic football activities. To compliment this, Forrest Training, an Aberdeen FC By Official Appointment affiliate was invited back for a second year to deliver first aid and hazard perception workshops, rounding off the life skill opportunities presented to the children.
Claire Garret, Team Lead – Primary Education at AFCCT commented: “The Fair Play for All event continues to align with our Primary Education strategy by providing extra-curricular experiences to young people whilst still engaging them through physical and mental wellbeing activities. The introduction of the relaxed version this year has enabled us to widen the reach of young people who can enjoy this experience, whilst feeling safe to explore the activities in their own way. Working together with the event partners has allowed us to enhance the Fair Play for All event and bring young people together from various communities to have a once in a lifetime experience.”
Fair Play for All – ‘energising the community’ was born from the AFC Women’s Team Partners, Boskalis, Tendeka and GAC, and their desire to make a meaningful difference to Aberdeen communities. Staff volunteers from all three companies plus Forrest Training and local charity WeToo! supported AFCCT in the delivery of a hugely impactful event. Huge thanks also goes to Club Partners Central Coaches and Official Public Transport Partners First Bus for making the day possible.
We were also delighted that members of the AFC Women’s team were able to join and take part in the fun!
