2022/23 AFC Player of the Year awards

The annual Aberdeen FC Player of the Year awards, sponsored by Team Recruitment & Tulloch Recruitment, were held at the P&J Live on Thursday evening.

Over a 1,000 people were in attendance on the night which saw, for the first time, the combination of both the men’s and women’s awards.

The 10 award winners are listed below.

 Aberdeen FC Community Trust Supporter Award

(Sponsored by CNR International)

This award recognises the outstanding contribution made by an individual, group or organisation in support of the AFC Community Trust vision, which is… “To provide support and opportunity to change lives for the better.”

The winner was chosen by the Trust management team.

The Aberdeen FC Community Trust Supporter of the Year is Phil McKenzie & Ann McKenzie.

Men’s Development Player of the Year

(Sponsored by Fowler McKenzie)

The winner of this award has been selected following consideration from Barry Robson and his coaching staff. It is based on the contribution that this player has made to the Development Team over the course of the season.

The winner of the Development Player of the Year is Alfie Bavidge.

Women’s Young Player of the Year

(Sponsored by Boskalis)

The winner of this award is selected by manager Gav Levey and his coaching staff and is based on the contribution that this young player has made on the team throughout the season.

The winner of the Young Player of the Year is Millie Urquhart.

Men’s Young Player of the Year

(Sponsored by MGS Logistics)

This award has been chosen by Barry Robson and his coaching staff.

The Young Player of the Year for 2022/23 is Leighton Clarkson.

Men’s Players’ Player of the Year

(Sponsored by RAM Tubulars)

This award allows the players to select a team-mate who they believe has made the biggest contribution to the team during the season. The award is voted for by both squads in a private ballot.

Gothenburg Great Gordon Strachan was on stage to present both winners with their award.

Our 2022/23 Players’ Player of the Year award winner is Luis ‘Duk’ Lopes.

Women’s Players’ Player of the Year

The AFC Women Players’ Player of the Year for season 2022/23 is Eilidh Shore.

 Women’s Goal of the Season

(Sponsored by Boskalis)

This award is voted for by the Red Army, with the AFC media team drawing up the shortlist.

Gothenburg Great Alex McLeish was on hand to announce both of the award winners.

The 2022/23 Goal of the Season winner is Eilidh Shore for her strike against Rangers in February.

Men’s Goal of the Season

Our 2022/23 Goal of the Season winner is Luis ‘Duk’ Lopes for his brilliant back heeled finish against Dundee United at Tannadice in March.

Women’s Player of the Year

We gave our supporters the opportunity to vote for both the Men’s & Women’s Player of the Year awards on the AFC Website, with fans asked to select the players they felt had the biggest impact on team performances this season, and who deserved to be the latest recipient of this coveted award.

Gothenburg Great Willie Miller was on hand to present both of the award winners.

The AFC Women’s Player of the Year award winner is Eilidh Shore.
