“My goal ultimately didn’t really matter because we didn’t win the game. I have said before it is not about scoring goals it is about getting the three points, we haven’t achieved that tonight which is disappointing.

“Our focus has fully been on Ross County over the last couple of days, we spoke last Tuesday after the game (with St Mirren) and we have to move on from that. We have worked over the last few days about how we were going to set about the game. It is disappointing to concede so soon after going ahead. Ultimately it is a lack of quality in the final third that has cost us all three points.

“Their goal comes from a throw in deep inside their half. We know how to defend better and we should be defending better.

“The last 10 minutes of the game it was a bit like basketball, they had a few set pieces but we were determined to win the game. We just lacked that bit of decision making in the final third or that bit of quality that hasn’t allowed us to go and score the second goal.

“We haven’t made the final ball count this season. We have had plenty of possession and kept teams pinned in but it has just been a little bit of lack of quality and the decision making hasn’t been great in the final third and I think that is the thing that has come back to bite us on the back side. We need to learn fast.

“The formation allows me a bit more flexibility, especially tonight when we have the likes of Dylan and Scott who can drop in, it allows myself and Calvin to go forward and make runs. I love being further up the pitch, I like to defend as well. I will play anywhere but it is nice being able to contribute further up the pitch.

“We are a possession based team so it leaves us vulnerable to sucker punches and that has happened too often this year. Over the past month to six weeks we have defended better as a team than we did earlier in the season. We are still learning to adapt to certain patterns and transitions. We have got new players as well. It is still a little bit of a learning process but in saying that there is not much left of the season, we need to learn fast.

“From our perspective it is two points dropped tonight. I have been around this football club for a long time now and regardless of who you play you are expected to win the game. Our intention is to always win the game. It is always disappointing when you don’t get the three points. We have got a busy schedule coming up and we have to right the wrongs of tonight and last week when we play Livingston on Saturday.”
