Reaction | Jonny Hayes Post-Match
A very disappointed Jonny Hayes spoke after the defeat to Celtic.
“When you get the goal in the second half you get a bit of impetuous and sense some vulnerability and we felt that we were going to go on and win the game.
“I would not call it a sucker punch, but we showed some naivety with the winning goal. We switch off and that has been our problem. Again, it is fine lines and fine margins and that is what is costing us at the moment.
“The game plan from the start was to push right up.
“Early on it was a case of working out the best way to deal with it. it is still a bit of a learning curve with new players playing together. Our intent was to go and push their centre half’s from the off and try and play the game in their half. At times when it worked, it worked out well but when you switch off for a split second against good players in the final third you will get punished.
“You are waiting for things to turn but mistakes are costing us. We are not getting battered or outplayed. Switching off at the wrong time costs you goals and points. Aside from the last half hour in Paisley when we had ten men, I don’t think we have been outplayed in any of the defeats.
“All we can do is keep working hard. We are trying to find those little bits of improvement on the training pitch that will help us going forward.”
