Aberdeen Women have been promoted and also won the Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 Championship after a superb 5-2 victory this afternoon over Dundee United.

Aberdeen’s gutsy 2-0 win over Partick Thistle in midweek all but guaranteed they would play in SWPL 1 next season due to a superior goal difference, but it was made official earlier this afternoon when second placed Hamilton Accies were held to a draw by Boroughmuir Thistle.

Emma Hunter’s team though also made sure the SWPL 2 title was wrapped up with two games to spare after an empathic first half performance in Dundee, against a United side who were also still chasing promotion.

Aberdeen have won back-to-back titles and promotions, meaning they will play in Scotland’s top League next season.
