“Over the course of the season we probably haven’t been good enough to finish third place. We haven’t lost third tonight, it was lost over the season.

“If we had got the first goal I feel we would have gone on to win. We dominated the ball, we had chances but it was just the final ball that was lacking today.

“The management staff have looked at what they want and have already recruited a couple of players ahead of next season. I am sure it will be a busy summer. There are players who are out of contract and if they stay or not I am sure it will be up to the hierarchy to decide. We focus on Saturday and will try to spoil a party there. If we look further ahead to next season, we hope to have fans back in the stadium and we have Europe to look forward to.

“The main thing for me over the last couple of months has been to get back fit, it has been my sole focus. Now that I am back, the club will sit down and see where I am and we will see from there.

“It would be great to be involved with the Wales squad this summer. It is a massive opportunity to represent your country at a major final but if I am not involved I will be cheering the boys on from home.”
