Bayley Hutchison of Aberdeen FC Women has been voted as the winner of the Scottish Building Society SWPL Player of the Month for October 2020. She previously won the award two years ago, picking up the October 2018 award at just 15 years old.

Now 17, Hutchison started both games for the Dons and grabbed four goals in the process. This included a late equaliser against Dundee United, a game they eventually went on to win and a hat-trick away to newly promoted Boroughmuir Thistle.

Hutchison has continued her fine form in November, adding a further five goals to her season tally and helping her side sit six points clear at the top of the table.

Speaking from Cormack Park, Hutchison said: “I’m delighted to win this award for a second time and I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who voted for me. I also need to give a huge thanks to my teammates and coaches who have got us off to such a strong start this season.”

Aberdeen have won all six of their matches so far in Scottish Building Society SWPL 2 but three of those wins have been by just one goal. Hutchison has scored in all three of those games.

“This is a really competitive league and I think that has been reflected in the results and league table” said Hutchison. “We’re having to work hard for three points every week and it’s testament to us that we’re able to do that.

“I’m really pleased to be playing my part and helping the team to success. As a striker, you always want to be scoring goals but the team winning is the ultimate aim.”

On top of winning the public vote, Hutchison also came out with the most votes amongst the Head Coaches in the Scottish Building Society SWPL. These votes now make up 50% of the total vote, giving a voice to those most heavily involved and invested in the women’s game.

Kerra McKinnie, Marketing Director for Scottish Building Society, said: “Congratulations to Bayley for winning the October award. Having won the Player of the Month award twice now, she’s clearly a top young player that the public and SWPL Head Coaches felt deserved recognition.”

Also nominated for the October award was Georgie McTear (Hamilton Academical), London Pollard (Forfar Farmington), and Sam Kerr (Glasgow City).

“I’d like to say congratulations to all the nominees for what was an exciting and intriguing start to the 2020/21 season” said McKinnie. “As expected, this is shaping up to be the most competitive season ever and Scottish Building Society are delighted to be supporting it.”
