“There were stages in the game where we played well but there was also stages where we weren’t at our best. We have got better performances in the locker, but it is a good sign that even though we are not at our best we are still winning.

“The international break probably came at the wrong time; we had played very well against Hibs, but I think we still have more to give.

“We have got a big squad with lots of good players and players that are not even making the bench. If you are not on your game you probably won’t be played, I think it raises boys game week in, week out.

“You have just got to try and do your best for the team and if you don’t perform you could be taken out of the team, it makes you raise your game to a new level.

“You do get injuries and have bad spells during the season, but we know we have good players to come in and do a job if needed.

“It was disappointing to miss out the Northern Ireland gams. I just had a little tweak in my back, but it meant I was not fit for the games. The boys have done well and got to the Euros; I am sure that we will bounce back after the defeat to Norway.

“The manager was showing us clips of the opposition and they will have good players, they are in Europe for a reason, we will need to be on our game.

“We all want to play against Sporting Lisbon, we all know how a big club they are. We need to concentrate on the first game and hopefully we will get there. Playing in Europe was one of the reasons as to why I came to Aberdeen. I really enjoyed the game against Runavik which was my debut in Europe, I can’t wait to play the next game if the gaffer picks me.

“It has been good to get back to playing football, the club have been brilliant with us. I am really enjoying my football.”
