As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and, with large social gatherings suspended indefinitely, the Club has taken the decision to cancel the 2019/20 AFC Player of the Year Awards Dinner.

The event was originally scheduled to take place on 30th April 2020 and was moved to 24th September in the hope that it could be staged at this time. However, following consultation with the venue and assessing the challenges associated with an easing of the lockdown, the prospect of hosting a dinner for a thousand people in September this year is simply not achievable. The Club is therefore pleased to announce the 2020/21 Player of the Year Dinner will now take place on Thursday 29th April 2021 at P&J Live.

Aberdeen FC Commercial Director, Rob Wicks, said: “Clearly, we are disappointed to be in this position but given the challenges we have faced as a society recently, we felt this was the only appropriate step. We plan to recognise the efforts of the team during the 2019/20 season and will announce our Player of the Year award winners on RedTV and our social channels on Saturday.

“We look forward to welcoming all our guests to the event next year and will be working hard behind the scenes to ensure it is bigger and better than ever as we celebrate the achievements of the team.”

If you had a reservation for this year’s event and would like to discuss your options for next year’s event, please contact the AFC Commercial team via commercial@afc.co.uk who will be happy to assist.
