I always feel that there is a good atmosphere at these Thursday night Europa League games and that will play a big part. If we can get everyone on our side and really behind us then we can create an atmosphere that will maybe affect them and give us a real edge.

“There is also always a great feel about these European nights at Pittodrie. The fans always come out in their numbers. There is always a healthy crowd and a great atmosphere. All night games are special here. The players enjoy going out to try and win a game of football.

“The last time we played Rijeka at Pittodrie, my goal turned out to be massive. We won 3-0 away from home but always knew we had work to do at Pittodrie because they were such a good side.

“And so they proved when they went 2-0 up. But I more or less scored straight from kick-off to pull a goal back and the tie then swung back our way. If they had gone 3-0 – and they had chances before the second goal went in – the momentum would have been with them.”
