Derek McInnes spoke to RedTV and gave an update on the latest transfer activity.

Greg Leigh became Aberdeen’s sixth signing of the summer following on from the acquisitions of Ashton Taylor, Curtis Main, Ryan Hedges, Jon Gallagher and Craig Bryson. The manager though is still hopeful of bring in more new faces ahead of the Europa League First Leg tie at Pittodrie on the 11th of July.

“We are always looking.

“The priority at the moment is to make sure we have the best squad available for the start of this campaign.

“We are pleased with the work we have done. There is still work to be done, but considering where we were when the season finished, I am pleased with where we are at the minute.

“We have got a really good competitive budget that we have to try and utilise.

“We can’t go spending money on transfer fees here and there, so we have to be as smart as we can with our work and as quick as we can with our work because we want to try and get the squad in place for the start of the campaign.

“And the campaign starts for us in a couple of weeks time.

“So we have to make sure we are ready.

“There is a lot going on at the club at the moment.

“We are having to get the training ground ready. We are looking at the stadium plans.

“Everyone is being really supportive to try and get what we need to get – which is the most important thing for the supporters and ourselves – to get the best possible squad together to meet the demands of this season.

“And that is what we are trying to do at the minute.”
