Aberdeen For All hits the road to Hampden!
Throughout the 2018/19 season over 500 season tickets have been issued through the Aberdeen For All supported season ticket initiative and now a number of those supporters will be making their first trip to Hampden this Sunday!
The Aberdeen For All initiative is facilitated by the club, in close partnership with AFCCT, providing local charities, families and individuals in our local community who would otherwise not be able to attend matches the opportunity to do so.
Thanks to the support of the AFC Board, the Red Army, Burness Paull, Simmons Energy, Swire Oilfield Services and Standard Life Aberdeen, many supporters have enjoyed access to football at Pittodrie creating many happy memories and inspiring the next generation of AFC supporters.
Thanks to further support from Simmons Energy, Stewart Milne Group and The Cormack Foundation, 75 Aberdeen For All recipients will be heading to Hampden on Sunday for Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup Semi-Final with Celtic, receiving a free ticket and transport.
Nick Dalgarno, Managing Director of Simmons Energy, who first brought the proposal to the club last month explained the inspiration behind the idea, “I have been fortunate to attend just about every semi-final and final that Aberdeen have played in since I started following the Dons and there is nothing like that big occasion for a supporter.”
“We have supported the Aberdeen For All initiative since its inception and felt that it was only right that the fans who have been using the season tickets to support the team at Pittodrie get to experience the Semi-Final and the big day out to Hampden.”
A number of the tickets for the Semi-Final have been issued to local children’s charity, Charlie House who also benefit from season tickets through the Aberdeen For All initiative.
When asked about the impact that the big day-out would have Beth Hopkins (Activities Co-ordinator, Charlie House) commented, “We were thrilled to be offered tickets and transport to the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden. The North-east families we support make such great use of the season tickets for home games and for them to also be offered the chance to go to Hampden and experience a semi-final is amazing.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the ‘Aberdeen for All’ initiative for their continued support. Everyone’s really looking forward to the big game and the special memories this is going to create for them.”
