Would all supporters please note we will be holding a minute’s silence prior to kick off at tomorrow’s game against Hearts in remembrance of Brian Christie.

Brian worked at Pittodrie as the AFC Referee Liaison for many years and was also Secretary of the Aberdeenshire and District Football Association.

The 59-year-old, from Kincorth, died earlier this week after a short illness. Brian’s funeral took place at the West Chapel at Aberdeen Crematorium on Friday morning.

Brought up in Northfield, Brian was an accomplished amateur goalkeeper and talented local cricketer before moving into football refereeing in the 1980s.

He was a highly regarded official in both the Highland League and Scottish Football League.

Brian moved into football administration, becoming current secretary of both the Aberdeen and District FA (ADFA) and the Aberdeen Amateur Football Association (AAFA). During his spell as referee liaison he was a very popular and friendly face around Pittodrie on a matchday.

Brian also worked for Ram Tubulars as sales development manager. Ram have been a big supporters of the club for many years.

An Aberdeen FC spokesman said: “Brian was a close friend to many of us at Aberdeen FC. We are all devastated.”
