Paul Sheerin reflected on a frustrating draw in the Reserve League With Dunfermline.

“I thought first half were ok for the main. We lost our way maybe for ten minutes or so, but in terms of possession we dominated the majority of the game. Second half it was a bit lethargic and a bit flat. We just never got going in all honesty and invited them into a game that arguably they shouldn’t have been in with the greatest of respects. We should have been ahead of them by more than we were at half time. It’s another frustrating afternoon.

“If we got put the penalty away it would have been easier with the cushion, but at 1-0 we should have been able to see the game out. It then became a game of two halves, why I’m not sure, but there is certainly a flatness about the group at that stage of the game. We needed someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck, but we didn’t really have that.

“Sometimes injuries can effect games with the nature of it, but sometimes players need to come on and make an impact or at least show they’re willing to do what others have done before them. I’m not saying they never, but we had to make two changes at half time and it shouldn’t overly effect the flow of things.

“Hopefully we’ll get a bit more flow to our work with games, which would be nice. That allows players to get used to the league, but whoever’s playing it shouldn’t matter. It’s a chance for the younger ones to show they can play at this level and also the older ones to come in and top up their fitness. You have to have a want to win and work hard and that competitive edge has to start. Yes it’s about developing players, but it’s also about developing a mindset to want to making things better on the pitch when they’re sometimes not going for you.”
