Football fans are being urged to do a spot of Christmas shopping ahead of their next home fixture against St Johnstone on Saturday 8th December.

Two vans will be parked outside Pittodrie to collect gifts for the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal which ensures children and young people get to experience the joy of Christmastime.

Mission Christmas is expecting its busiest year ever and is preparing to receive up to 10,000 applications for support in the North-east.

Michelle Ferguson, Charity Manager at Northsound’s Cash for Kids, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Aberdeen Football Club for giving us the opportunity to be able to directly engage with Dons fans on match day.

“We have two vans ready to fill with toys and other gifts for boys and girls aged from zero to 18. This is going to be our busiest ever year and we are calling on the footballing community to come together for our children who are sadly at risk of waking to nothing to open on Christmas morning.”

Mission Christmas

Aberdeen Football Club players Joe Lewis and Andy Considine visited the Mission Christmas warehouse to support the small team of staff and volunteers organise gift bundles for thousands of children. They also donated a number of gifts from the club, including scarves, hats and calendars.

They were surprised to learn that the highest number of applications are for teenagers, in particular boys, but the campaign receives very few gifts for this group.

Joe Lewis added:
“It was a real eye-opener to visit the Mission Christmas team today. It is incredible to think there is such a huge demand for gifts here in the North-east and we hope our fans will be able to support the efforts ahead of our St Johnstone match. We were surprised about the need for teenager-friendly gifts and hopefully they enjoy some football fans will enjoy the AFC gifts we brought today.”

Donations are being accepted at drop-off points across the North-east until 20th December. Applications for support are also being accepted until this date. For more information visit please click here.
