Scotland U21 Squad | Ferguson and Wright Called Up

21 August 2018

Lewis Ferguson and Scott Wright have been called up to the Scotland U21 squad to face Andorra and The Netherlands next month. The duo will join up with Scot Gemmill’s side ahead of the crucial qualifiers as Scotland’s qualification hopes hang in the balance.

If selected Lewis will earn his first cap at this level having represented Scotland as an U19. Scott can earn his fifth cap for the national side and took part in the prestigious Toulon Tournament in the summer where the U20’s reached the semi-finals.

Both players have made excellent starts to the campaign with Ferguson scoring a memorable overhead kick against Burnley in the Europa League and has played in every match for the first team, despite only being 18 years old. Wright was given his first start on Saturday and was a standout in the 4-0 win over St Mirren in the Betfred Cup.

Scotland must win their final group games to be in with a chance of qualifying for the play-offs, but it remains out of their hands with Gemmill’s side sitting in fourth position in the group, behind England, The Netherlands and Ukraine.

The full team is as follows.
