Please be advised of the following AWPR works this weekend, which may impact on supporters travelling to and from the Aberdeen V Celtic match.

The following AWPR works will take place on arterial routes to and from Aberdeen this weekend between 8pm on Friday and 6am on Monday.

Whilst every effort will be made to reduce the impact on travel times, particularly on Sunday 25th February when Aberdeen host Celtic, supporters should expect longer journey times before and after the fixture.

The A90 at Blackdog will be in contraflow throughout the weekend.

The A947 at Goval will have convoy working over the weekend.  Every effort will be made to have the convoy works completed prior to Sunday lunchtime.

The A96 at Craibstone and on the approach to Dyce Drive will have various lane closures over the weekend. Construction teams will aim to have two lanes clear city-bound before the game and also for westbound traffic afterwards.  The A90 at Stonehaven and also at Charleston will have lane closures throughout the weekend.

The above information is correct at this time but works may be subject to change at short notice.

We have also received the following information regarding roadworks on the Friarton Bridge which may affect supporters heading to Pittodrie this weekend:

Essential bridge maintenance works are planned for the M90 Friarton Bridge starting in the evening on Friday 23 February for one weekend.

The work will involve replacing some of the bridge components on the northbound carriageway at both the north and south ends of the bridge. The maintenance will help ensure the bridge continues to operate safely for road users.

To enable the works to be completed safely, the northbound carriageway will be closed to all traffic from 8pm on Friday 23 February until around 5am on Monday 26 February. A contraflow system will instead be in place, with single lane traffic running in both directions on the southbound carriageway.

Commenting on the works, Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative said: “These essential maintenance works on Friarton Bridge will help ensure that the structure continues to operate safely for all motorists and continue to function to the highest standard.

“The traffic management is essential to keep everyone safe during these works, and this may lead to some potential delays to journey times. To minimise any impact to road users as much as possible we’re carrying out the works over one weekend, and teams will do all they can to
complete the works as quickly and safely as they can.

“We encourage all road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website before they travel and allowing some extra time to reach their destination.”
